Easter cross with music

On Easter Sunday at 7:00 p.m. the Scottsburg United Methodist Church will host the performance of the Easter cantata: “Hallelujah What a Savior! The Crucified and Risen Christ” and selected songs from “The Tomb is Empty Now.”

The performance will be directed by Bill Henderson and will feature the singing talents from the First Christian, Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian churches. Soloists for this year’s program are Meta Clark, Scott McDill, Stephanie Lehman, and a trio of Connie Kenninger, Malvina Craig, and Kathy Dodds.

The program marks the first-ever cantata performed by the community choir to be held on Easter Sunday evening. Everyone is invited to attend.

The United Methodist Mountain Mission Truck will arrive at the Scottsburg United Methodist Church at 615 S. Honeyrun Parkway, on Monday,  March 5th.

 You may drop off your items to the south porch on Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th.

New Liberian President George Manneh Weah said the best way to help the poor is to ensure that public resources do not end up in the pockets of government officials.Weah, a United Methodist and former soccer star, was officially sworn in as president of Liberia at a ceremony in the country’s capital Jan. 22. Weah succeeds fellow United Methodist Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.During the induction ceremony, Weah said the overwhelming mandate he received from the Liberian people during his campaign was to end corruption in public service. “I promised to deliver on this mandate,” he stressed. “Though corruption is a habit amongst our people, we must end it.”
